Manchester United are in the market for a prolific striker this summer and now a new update has emerged on a potential transfer target who would be open to a move to Old Trafford this summer.
What's the latest on Man United's interest in Rasmus Hojlund?
According to The Mirror, Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund is interested in joining Man United this summer after being identified as one of the players under consideration.
As per the report, it is claimed that the talented star is on a six-man shortlist with the signing of a striker the highest priority for the Red Devils and his Serie A club will command a €50m (£43m) transfer fee to part ways with their player.
Who would Hojlund replace at Man United?
Replacing Cristiano Ronaldo was never going to be an easy task for Erik ten Hag, however, the Dutch coach wouldn't have been able to predict just how poor Wout Weghorst would be during his six-month loan stint at Old Trafford.
The Netherlands international failed to score a single Premier League goal over his 17 league appearances in a Man United strip – missing three big chances in front of goal and averaging 0.3 shots on target per game, which is a dreadful output for a centre forward especially at such a demanding club.
As a result, the signing of Hojlund would be warmly welcomed ahead of next season as the Danish striker would be an incredible threat in the final third and a huge upgrade on Weghorst.
When comparing the Atalanta talent to his Man United positional peer he has comfortably outperformed in a number of key attacking attributes including goal contributions (16 v 13), shots on target rate (54.7% v 43.9%), goal-creating actions per 90 (0.25 v 0.23), progressive carries (40 v 3) and shots on target per 90 (1.41 v 1.18), as per FBref.
Not only is Hojlund more explosive in front of goal, but the 20-year-old is also a decade younger than Weghorst and could provide Ten Hag with a young player who could develop into a massive asset for any future success at Man United in the next few years to come.
The four-cap Denmark international has been the recipient of high praise from his manager Gian Piero Gasperini who likened him to treble-winning Manchester City star Erling Haaland:
"Hojlund has this spirit, energy, intensity, but also the technical quality that is just remarkable. He still has so much margin for improvement, too.
"He has very similar characteristics to Haaland. He is so quick, he’s under 11 seconds over 100m and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity. I am convinced he’ll have a great career, he just gets stronger every day."
With that being said, securing Hojlund's signature would be a major coup for Man United and if he could continue to thrive in English football there is no reason why he can't become a key component in the club's pursuit of more trophies and success in the future.

Rangpur Riders opener Mohammad Shahzad has been suspended for two BPL matches for making physical contact with Rajshahi Kings’ Sabbir Rahman with his bat, following his dismissal in Mirpur on Monday. Shahzad was also fined 30% of his match fees. Sabbir was handed a 15% fine while Liam Dawson, Rangpur’s stand-in captain, was fined 30% for showing dissent after the umpire adjudged him lbw.The Shahzad-Sabbir incident occured in the fourth over of the chase and replays showed there was physical contact between them after which Sabbir crouched for a few minutes. Sabbir was running past Shahzad who extended his bat. The umpires spoke to Sabbir after the incident, which boiled over from the first innings after the pair was involved in a heated conversation.”The decisions were taken after speaking to the umpires and studying TV footage. We didn’t need an official hearing. Everyone accepted they were guilty,” match referee Neeyamur Rashid said.Rajshahi captain Darren Sammy said Shahzad’s physical reaction was unnecessary. “We are good friends. How has Reo Hatate performed at Celtic?
Rodgers worked with some terrific players during his time with the Foxes in England and could already have his next version of Youri Tielemans in Reo Hatate, who is one of the current stars of Celtic's midfield.
The Japan international is an excellent number eight who can make an impact in and out of possession and the 25-year-old could now thrive under the new boss, who was able to get the best out of Tielemans at the King Power.
Only Scott Sinclair (238) has played more matches for the manager than the now-Aston Villa ace (184) throughout his career, illustrating how much trust he placed in the 26-year-old.
The pinnacle of their time together, arguably, came when the Belgian rifled in a screamer from 25 yards to win the FA Cup against Chelsea in 2021.
Tielemans was a consistently excellent performer for Rodgers in the Premier League, as well as in cup competitions, and enjoyed a terrific campaign during their last full season together in 21/22.

He averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.08 across 32 league outings and contributed with six goals and 1.2 key passes per game. The Foxes maestro also showcased his defensive ability with three tackles and interceptions per match and a 51% duel success rate for the side.
Hatate, who has been hailed as "all action" by ex-Scotland defender Alan Hutton, is also a midfielder who puts himself about on and off the ball.
The 25-year-old averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.23 across 32 Scottish Premiership matches and chipped in with six goals and 1.3 key passes per outing, whilst the Japanese hero also won 57% of his duels and made 1.5 tackles and interceptions per clash.
These statistics suggest that the pair are similar midfielders, with both able to hold their own in physical contests and have the quality in possession to score goals and create chances.
Indeed, Rodgers may not need to use any of his £30m budget to bring his next Tielemans to Celtic as he already has one in the form of the £12k-per-week menace.
Tottenham Hotspur have now been handed the opportunity to sign Udinese striker Beto, who will be available for €30m (£26m) this summer, according to a report from Defensa Central.
What's the latest Tottenham transfer news?
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is highly unlikely to sanction a sale of Harry Kane this summer, however new options at striker are still being considered, with Ange Postecoglou keen to reunite with Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Hoops may be tempted to accept a bid of £16m for the Japanese forward, however returning manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted he is not worried about Postecoglou raiding his former club.
Beto has recently been subject to interest from Everton, with the Toffees even making a bid for the striker back in the January transfer window, and his services have now been offered to a number of top clubs across Europe.
According to a report from Defensa Central, the Udinese star's agents have been in contact with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Tottenham to discuss a potential summer move, however at the moment there is no concrete interest.
Udinese want to keep hold of the 25-year-old for the 2023-24 campaign, and they will only sanction his departure if his release clause, which amounts to €30m (£26m), is paid in full.
At the moment, none of the clubs that have been contacted are willing to match the Italian club's asking price.
Who is Beto?
The Portuguese marksman first made a name for himself with Portimonense, registering 16 goal contributions in 47 games, before completing a €10m (£8.6m) move to Udinese in August 2021, where he has continued to impress.
In his first two seasons in the Serie A, the Lisbon-born attacker has reached double figures for goals, netting on ten occasions in the 2022-23 season, a very respectable return given that Udinese ended up finishing 12th.

Evidently, the former Portimonense man would find it very difficult to get game time at Tottenham if Kane stays this summer, given that the England captain scored a remarkable 30 goals in the Premier League last season, however he could still be a worthwhile signing.
Journalist Sam Tighe has claimed that Beto "spooks defenders" with the runs he makes in the channel, and at 6 foot 4, he could be a good option to bring off the bench when Tottenham are chasing a game and implement a more direct system.

They were on shaky ground when they lost captain Will Young an over later to be reduced to 17 for 2, but Taylor walked in and settled things down for them along with opener George Worker. Worker fell to the legspin of Todd Astle one short of a fifty, but not before adding 78 at nine to the over with Taylor to beat Canterbury back. From thereon, Canterbury managed to strike regular blows at one end, but Taylor held his up remarkably well, slamming six sixes in his 50-ball knock that ended in the final over of the innings.Chasing 191, five of Canterbury’s top six got off to starts, but none could kick on. With no one to anchor the innings, the chase was repeatedly dented by wickets and fell away. Aston Villa are looking to sign another player from La Liga after the expected addition of Pau Torres, according to transfer expert Dean Jones.
Is Torres definitely joining Aston Villa?
There is definite excitement in the air at Villa Park at the moment, with things going so swimmingly under Unai Emery. Not only did the Spaniard steer them to a seventh-place finish and a return to European football last season, but there are also plenty of funds for signings in the transfer window.
It looks to be a matter of time until Torres arrives from Villarreal, in what could be a hugely significant piece of business, given his quality at centre-back. There is no doubt that that is far from the final signing that Villa will make, however, with eye-catching reinforcements expected to arrive all over the pitch.
A new update suggests that the Villans aren't straying too far from Torres, when it comes to where their next signing could come from.
Could another La Liga signing come in?
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones claimed that Villa are eyeing up an unnamed La Liga player to add to their squad in the near future:
"I'm told there is actually one other option, I haven't got a name on it yet. I'm told that there is somebody else in La Liga that they're exploring. So, there could be another name that comes into the conversation pretty soon."
It is unquestionably encouraging to see Villa being so productive this summer already, as they look to go up a significant gear and looking to bed genuine top-six contenders next season.
Emery has built a wonderful platform already, and he is slowly creating one of the best squads that Villa Park has witnessed in a number of years, with Torres someone who could be one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, having won 23 caps for Spain currently.
It remains to be seen where this unnamed La Liga ace plays, in terms of his position, but a new speedy forward could be ideal, coming in as a strong attacking partner for Ollie Watkins, and being able to play both centrally and out wide.
With Emery at the club, Villa already have an advantage over others, given his pedigree as a four-time Europa League winner and footballers wanting to play under him, so the hope is that this is only really the start of the club's spending this summer.
