Acredite a torcida nisso.
With Coetzer taking a break from the team to complete his Level 4 coaching qualification, Richie Berrington will stand-in as captain for Scotland’s first two games against Ireland

Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer will miss the side’s first two matches of the ODI tri-series in the UAE, also involving the hosts and Ireland. With Coetzer taking a break from the team to complete his Level 4 coaching qualification, Richie Berrington will stand-in as captain for Scotland’s first two games against Ireland.Coetzer will take back the captaincy in Scotland’s third match against UAE. Coach Grant Bradburn welcomed Berrington into the leadership role and set his sights on qualification for the 2019 World Cup.”Richie Berrington will captain the team for the two games against Ireland and then assume the vice captaincy for the UAE matches,” he said. “Richie is highly skilled as a player and hugely respected within our team. It is fantastic that he has agreed to step up into a formal leadership role on this tour, which we believe he will thrive on.”This Dubai series is no different in terms of importance, but we have full confidence in our players to take on different roles. We must continually improve and give players the exposure to grow. Our sole intent is to qualify for the CWC 19 and to do that we must develop depth and allow players to show their vast range of abilities at international level.”Ireland beat UAE by four wickets in the tri-series opener on January 11.

Tottenham Hotspur will be seeking to maintain their unbeaten start to the new Premier League season with a positive result at home to newly-promoted Burnley this afternoon, with Ange Postecoglou's men also likely keen to shake off their recent Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Fulham.
After a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage in normal time, a much-changed Spurs side crashed out on penalties to further limit their chances of ending what is now a 15-year wait for silverware, with that swift departure from the competition somewhat souring the mood amid a largely impressive month for the Lilywhites.
Following the opening weekend draw with Brentford, the north London outfit have since recorded 2-0 wins against both Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth to put themselves in the mix at the top of the table, with the change in the dugout seemingly paying off at present.
As the midweek loss to the Cottagers showcased, however, there is still plenty of work left to do for Postecoglou if he is to truly revive the club's fortunes, both this season and beyond, with the ex-Celtic boss likely wary of complacency against a Clarets sides who are yet to earn a point since returning to the top-flight.
Will Tottenham make changes against Burnley?
With Postecoglou having made nine alterations for the trip to west London on Tuesday night, it is likely that the Greek-Aussie will revert to a similar side to the one which saw off the Cherries just a few days earlier – with only Richarlison and Micky van de Ven having kept their place against Marco Silva's men.
That being said, however, the new boss may still be waiting to see his attacking unit, in particular, truly click into gear, with the likes of Heung-min Son and Richarlison yet to get off the mark in the league with a goal or an assist.
Ange Postecoglou
With that in mind, it may be time for Postecoglou to shake things up somewhat and hand a first top-flight start of the season to summer signing, Manor Solomon, with the former Shakhtar Donetsk ace having shown flashes of his quality in midweek.
How good is Manor Solomon?
The Israeli international was arguably one of the more understated arrivals of the summer window for the north Londoners after joining on a free transfer, although there have already been glimpses of the attacking threat that the 24-year-old can offer to his new club over the coming years.
Having previously scored four league goals last term during an injury-disrupted stint on loan at Fulham, the wideman has since been restricted to just a solitary substitute appearance in the top-flight this time around, having come off the bench late on against Man United.
Manor Solomon
However, up against his former employers earlier this week the 5 foot 7 speedster illustrated his 'quick feet on the ball', as per the Evening Standard's Dan Kilpatrick, having also gone close to finding the back of the net with a delightful, curling effort.
That outing saw the £13m-rated ace notably complete three of his five attempted dribbles as a sign of his desire to make things happen in the final third, having also won six of his 12 ground duels as an indication that he is willing to put in the hard yards defensively.
While largely overlooked by Postecoglou in the league thus far, today's encounter with Vincent Kompany's side could be a chance for that situation to change, with journalist Paul Brown previously telling Football FanCast that Solomon good be a "good weapon" for his new club, as he has a "knack for goal".
Although thus far the new addition has been something of a bit-part player in the early weeks of the season, he could well represent a secret 'weapon' if given a more prominent role this afternoon.
Manchester United are a team famed for bringing players through their prestigious youth academy to play an important role in the first team.
This was embodied in the Sir Alex Ferguson era as he brought through the "class of 92", featuring Nicky Butt, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville
While six of the names listed above played a pivotal role during the most successful period in the club's history, winning countless Premier League titles and even a treble-winning campaign in the 1998/99 season, a remarkable eight of the 14 trainees in 1991 went onto make their first-team debut for the club.
This stat is unrecognizable in the modern game with the riches displacing opportunities for youth products to impress, but at Old Trafford, it is the norm. As of October 2022, for the past 86 years, a homegrown player had featured in every matchday squad with the sequence beginning on Saturday 30 October 1937.
In the present day, the most notable player to break into the first team and leave an ever-lasting impact is Marcus Rashford. Having scored a brace on his Premier League debut against Arsenal in 2016, the 25-year-old has gone on to make 369 appearances for the club, chalking up 124 goals and 69 assists.
Currently, there are a few youngsters in the youth setup who are ready to make the step-up and one of those is Charlie McNeill who will be hoping to make a similar impact to Rashford in the first-team.
Who is Charlie McNeill?
After departing the club as a schoolboy, the 20-year-old returned from rivals Manchester City in 2020 and has since continued his prolific goal-scoring at youth level.
For the Red Devils' respective youth sides, McNeill has chalked up an impressive 58 goal contributions in 72 appearances which has led to subsequent high praise and hype surrounding his clinical exploits.
Erik ten Hag rewarded McNeill for his stellar form in the youth ranks last season. He brought him off the bench for his first team debut in the latter stages of their group stage loss to Real Sociedad and despite the defeat, Robbie Savage heaped praise on the youngster for the hard work he's put in to get to this point.
While speaking on BT Sport commentary, the fellow Man United academy graduate said: "He's scored lots of goals in the youth academy. He's a great lad, so (I'm) delighted for Charlie and his family that he's made his first-team debut. I know exactly how his family will be feeling, they'll be so proud."
McNeill joined League Two side Newport County in January and only managed two goals in 20 appearances, however, League One Stevenage were willing to take a chance on him this season, and he's repaid them with a goal on his debut.
What is Charlie McNeill's play style?
Having established himself as one of the most formidable young strikers in Europe during his time at Man City and is credited with over 600 goals at youth level, including 110 goals and 38 assists in one season for City's U15's, McNeill is a striker that needs no introduction about where the back of the net is.
He has an array of inventive finishes in his locker, from poacher goals to long-range finishes, drawing comparisons to a former Old Trafford hero, Robin van Persie.
The Dutchman was known for his ability to produce the spectacular – think of his iconic diving header that stunned the world against Spain in the 2014 World Cup or his sumptuous volley against Aston Villa in 2013.
He could score every type of goal, and it was that instinct, ingenuity and technique that saw him lead United to the Premier League title in the 2012/13 season, scoring 26 goals in 38 appearances.
Using his cultured left foot as a weapon of mass destruction, van Persie left Ferguson speechless following his volley against Villa with the Scotsman drawing high praise towards the Dutch dynamo, saying:
"It was the goal of the Century, for me, a marvellous hit," he told Sky Sports.
While van Persie left managers, players and supporters in awe with his performances on the field, McNeill has been tearing up a similar tree for years and if he can settle into the right system at Stevenage, he could soon show supporters why he's the second coming of van Persie.
After all, such ruthless finishing doesn't come lightly.

Despite playing a match-winning innings in Centurion, Heinrich Klaasen is practical about Quinton de Kock taking his place back in the side, and says, ‘If this is my last game, so be it, I am happy with it’
Sidharth Monga in Centurion22-Feb-2018

“My dream is fulfilled. Now it becomes a job.”Players will struggle to top this as a description of how it feels to fill in for an injured player, win a couple of games for your country, and then go back to being the second rung. Heinrich Klaasen has come a long way from looking for tickets for the Pink Day ODI. He not only played that match but actually won it for his country. Now he has won them their only other limited-overs game in a one-sided match-up between the injury-hit hosts and the rampant Indian side.Yet, Klaasen is under no illusion. He knows the injured Quinton de Kock is too good a player to be left out when fit despite all that he himself has done in de Kock’s absence. “No, not at all,” Klaasen said without a moment of hesitation when asked if de Kock should be worried. “I think he is a world-class player. And our change room definitely misses him. Especially top of the order. I don’t think he has anything to worry about yet.”Still Klaasen doesn’t necessarily need to replace de Kock to play for South Africa. That middle order has shown signs of brittleness, and two keepers could actually share the workload too. He still doesn’t think he might have a chance in a full-strength South Africa side, but that’s not at the top of his mind yet. “If you look at Quinny, AB [de Villiers] and Faf [du Plessis] and with Temba [Bavuma] coming back as well, they are world-class players. So, in some sort, to put my name in that list as well. It is definitely a very important stage of my career. Put myself on the map or in this set-up. But if this is my last game, the weekend one, so be it, I am happy with it. My dream is fulfilled. Now it becomes a job.”And a dream is exactly what it has been for Klaasen, to help his side win a game at his home ground, Centurion. He will be watching re-runs of this innings before he moves on to the next match. “That’s great fun [to be able to execute your shots in pressure situations],” Klaasen said. “But in that moment you don’t usually think how fun it is. Next ball you think where it is going, so [you] need to figure couple of plans and areas where to hit, try to figure out where he is going to bowl to. But looking back, I’d probably go back home tonight, probably watch it, hopefully, if recorded. But later tonight or tomorrow I will enjoy it.”Klaasen might have once again had the damp conditions going for him, but he continues to be the only South Africa batsman to have truly dominated the India legspinners. In Centurion, he targeted Yuzvendra Chahal brutally, hitting five of his 12 balls for sixes and taking 41 runs off them. It turns out he has always taken a shine to legspin bowling.”I fancy him quite a lot,” Klaasen said, without a hint of arrogance. “Especially when I was in amateur cricket, there were a couple of quality leggies in that time when I started my career. I faced Shaun von Berg at the Titans a lot as well. We always made a joke that I need to finish the other leggie’s career so he can go up. Sometimes it works. Tonight it worked perfectly. I just tried to cash in as much as possible.”Chahal’s second over was all class from Klaasen with an extra-cover drive for a six and a switch-hit too. Klaasen was all muscle in Chahal’s third, which went for 23. “It [that assault] wasn’t planned,” Klaasen said. “But the way the seamers bowled, the cutters, they’ve got very, very good skills. I just fancied my chances more against the leggie, had more options against him. So when I got the first two boundaries, I thought this is the over I have got to target. Maybe if I can get 20-odd in this over.”The 20-odd came, the chase was sealed, and Klaasen walked back to a huge applause from his home crowd. If it is indeed just a dream, there is one more match to go, which, thanks to him, is not a dead rubber.

Australia’s captain, meanwhile, has looked notably assertive with the bat in net sessions this week, and reckons himself to be hitting the ball far better than at any stage during his prolific Ashes summer

When Steven Smith confirmed an unchanged team for Australia’s Newlands bout with South Africa, his matter-of-fact tone belied that this had been a far from straightforward decision. Mitchell Starc had been hampered by a calf problem and Mitchell Marsh by a groin strain, and both had to pass bowling fitness tests in front of the selection chairman Trevor Hohns.Much like the vagaries of the charge, hearing, ban, appeal and exoneration for Kagiso Rabada, this series has been a test for Smith in plenty of ways both expected and unforeseen. He is facing an opponent seemingly well equipped to keep him, to use the term of Faf du Plessis, “quiet”, while his otherwise peerless bowling attack has failed conclusively so far to do likewise for AB de Villiers. All the while the mental strain of a long summer and all the attendant distractions of this series have added up. By Smith’s own admission, he “reads everything” in the press and on social media, and is also feeling fatigued between the ears relative to his headspace during a prolific Ashes series. However there is one point of positivity, drawn perhaps from the experience of watching de Villiers play with such boldness and freedom irrespective of the match situation. Smith has been notably assertive with the bat in net sessions this week, and reckons himself to be hitting the ball far better than at any stage against England – with the possible exception of one evening during the Perth Test, when he raced to 92 before settling in for an epic 239.”I feel really good, my hit today was the best for six months,” Smith said. “It’s probably been the opposite throughout the summer, I didn’t feel I was hitting the ball that well but my mind was in a good place, maybe now my mind is not in as good a space as it was but I feel now I am hitting the ball better. It’s nice to mix and match between the two, but if I get the two in the right place together then hopefully it will mean some big runs.”You play the way you feel and all that out in the middle. I’m feeling good and fresh after week break before training, in a good place. I’ve had a bit of success here without scoring a hundred, scored a few runs here last time, got out to Dean Elgar again which wasn’t very nice. Hopefully I can make a big impact in this game.”In observing de Villiers, Smith has seen a player very much at ease with his game and surroundings. There were the familiar words from Smith about creating an “uncomfortable environment” for the Proteas maestro, something for which he may take inspiration from the way du Plessis and his bowlers have succeeded in corralling him at the crease for Australia.”He’s played beautifully, you want to get those guys out early but its actually been nice to watch and the way he’s developed his innings in the games,” Smith said. “It was nice to get his wicket in the last innings, [but] he looks to have a good game plan, a lot of time, looks comfortable and hopefully we can make him very uncomfortable in this game.”Getty Images
As IPL teammates until recently, Smith and du Plessis know each other well, and it is clear the latter has succeeded in switching his bowlers onto their most alert mode whenever the Australian walks to the middle. “With all good players you want to make sure you make it as tough as possible for them,” du Plessis said, “especially in the first hour or 15 to 20 balls.”They are just a bit better than normal players so if you let them get going, they kickstart their innings quickly. In the previous game I think he was on one off 15 balls, so it’s about making sure you are concentrating when you bowl those first 15 balls at him so he doesn’t get off to that fluent start. I’m sure he’ll be hungry for runs in this game as well.”Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, meanwhile, may not get as much assistance from the Newlands square in roughing up the ball for reverse swing, as it has a far lusher and more watered appearance than those of Kingsmead and St George’s Park. Nathan Lyon has noted that one of Starc’s less trumpeted abilities is to land the ball consistently on one side when bowling, the better to condition the ball for reverse, but that by his groundsman’s estimation it will take time.”It’s going to depend on how rough we can get the rough side by hitting the wicket,” he said. “You can see Starcy is a massive weapon for us when we want to get the ball reversing, the way he releases the ball he can land it on the rough side and rough it up naturally. I dare say it’s still going to play a part, but I don’t think it will play a part as quick as what it probably has in the past two Test matches.”Time, of course, was a factor used brilliantly by South Africa’s top-order pair of Dean Elgar and Hashim Amla in Port Elizabeth, soaking up the best overs of Starc and Hazlewood to buy time for de Villiers to excel. Smith acknowledged that he may have to change things up more frequently this time around in the field.”It depends on what’s happening,” Smith said. “That middle session where those guys batted really well was where the ball started reversing really big and at that time I thought it was the best option to get them out. Unfortunately we weren’t able to do that, but they scored 42 runs in the session I think and got rewards later on. It certainly depends on what’s happening out in the middle. Nathan’s been very successful against Dean as well, so that could come into play pretty early.”Whether with the bat or the ball, Smith, Starc and Australia may well need to make things happen in Cape Town, as their mental and physical reserves start to dwindle at the end of a long summer.
