The BCB will investigate a recent social-media post from Shakib Al Hasan in which he announced his partnership with a company called “Betwinner News”. During a press conference following a board meeting on Thursday, BCB president Nazmul Hassan said that they will serve Shakib a notice for not informing them of the sponsorship deal.The existing laws of Bangladesh place stringent prohibitions on any gatherings or establishments that facilitate gambling. Allowing gambling businesses to function is in contravention to the law, as well as the country’s constitution.Shakib made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday, shortly after Bangladesh lost the third T20I against Zimbabwe. Shakib initially deleted the tweet, but reposted it shortly afterwards.”Shakib’s latest sponsorship was discussed during Thursday’s meeting,” Hassan said. “We have instructed to serve him a notice, to ask him what’s happening with this. The board will not allow it if it is related to betting. He definitely hasn’t asked us for permission. Bangladesh’s law doesn’t permit it. It is a serious issue. We cannot however just rely on a Facebook post (sic), so we have to investigate to find out about it.”In an interview with the Dhaka-based Bengali newspaper , the BCB’s chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury also said that they will still seek clarification from Shakib.”It is quite clear why these news portals are made,” he said. “We all very well know what these are. Shakib didn’t inform us about his deal. We heard about it today (Wednesday). We are looking at it legally, and want to settle the matter quickly.”It is not a direct contract with a betting site, but it is related to the betting site. It is a news portal. Asad Rauf, the former ICC elite panel umpire from Pakistan, has died following a cardiac arrest in Lahore. Rauf was 66 years old. He officiated in 64 Tests (49 as on-field umpire and 15 as TV umpire), 139 ODIs and 28 T20Is.Rauf was one of Pakistan’s most prominent umpires in the mid-2000s, having been elevated to the ICC’s elite panel in 2006. He had officiated in his first Test the previous year, and been on the ODI panel since 2004, having stood in his first ODI in 2000. He was a popular figure on the circuit who, alongside Aleem Dar, did his bit in improving the reputation of Pakistani umpires before the neutral umpires era. But his career came to an abrupt halt in 2013 when he was named as a “wanted accused” by Mumbai police in their investigation into the IPL spot-fixing scandal, where Rauf had been umpiring. Rauf left India before the end of that IPL season and but was withdrawn from the Champions Trophy that followed by the ICC and later that year would be dropped from the ICC’s elite panel, though the ICC insisted it wasn’t because his name had come up in the investigations.Rauf protested his innocence throughout and said he would be happy to cooperate with the ACSU. In 2016, the BCCI banned Rauf for five years on four charges of corruption and misconduct.Rauf had a substantial first-class career as a middle-order batter before he turned to umpiring, appearing for National Bank and Railways, averaging 28.76 from 71 first-class matches.

وكانت أزمة مباراة القمة قد اندلعت يوم 11 مارس الماضي، حين قرر الأهلي عدم خوض المواجهة أمام الزمالك، احتجاجًا على تعيين طاقم تحكيم مصري للمباراة رغم طلبه حكامًا أجانب، وعلى إثر ذلك، قررت لجنة المسابقات اعتبار الأهلي مهزومًا 0-3 وخصم ثلاث نقاط من رصيده بنهاية الموسم، تنفيذًا للائحة المعمول بها.
إلا أن سلسلة من التظلمات والقرارات المتضاربة لاحقًا، بدأت بتأييد اللجنة الأولمبية للعقوبة، ثم تجاهل رابطة الأندية للقرار، وانتهاءً بدعم لجنة التظلمات لقرار الرابطة بعدم خصم النقاط، فجّرت غضبًا واسعًا لدى الزمالك.

The Dutch head coach is, however, reportedly looking at potential additions to come in and bolster the squad in the summer window, including Lyon star Rayan Cherki.

Liverpool may be interested in Cherki because he is a talented young player with time left ahead of him to grow and improve, whilst he has already shown flashes of quality in the current season.
The technically gifted star, who can play through the middle as an attacking midfielder or out on the left or right flank, has produced five goals and eight assists in 24 appearances in all competitions for Lyon in the 2024/25 campaign.

Cherki, as shown in the table above, Cherki has provided an impressive level of creativity both in Ligue 1 and in the Europa League for the French side this season, which may be why the Reds are keen to bring him in at the end of the season.
He has not offered a huge goal threat for his team, however, and that may be one area of his game that he could look to improve in the years to come.
Liverpool do reportedly have one target, though, who is no stranger to finding the back of the net, and he could come in as an even bigger signing than Cherki.

Earlier this month, the Mirror reported that Lille centre-forward Jonathan David had the chance to audition in front of the Liverpool recruitment team when he came to Anfield in the Champions League.
The outlet claimed that the Reds have had long-term links to the Canada international, going back to Jurgen Klopp’s tenure at the club, and that his clash with Slot’s side in Europe provided him with a chance to show them what he is capable of first-hand.
It added that Tottenham Hotspur are among the other Premier League teams interested in a possible deal to snap up the 25-year-old marksman, who is out of contract in the summer and could be a bargain signing on a free transfer.

Liverpool may well have been impressed by his clinical and assured, given his 90% pass accuracy under pressure from Virgil van Dijk, performance against them in Europe’s top competition.
Why Liverpool should sign Jonathan David
With this in mind, Slot should push for the board to secure a deal to bring the Canadian marksman to Anfield on a bargain free transfer at the end of the season because he could be an even better addition than Cherki.
With Mo Salah and Cody Gakpo on the flanks, Liverpool are not in desperate need of another wide player to feature in those positions, which is why the Frenchman can play, although they could use him in a central role in midfield.
However, the Reds have lacked a consistent goal threat in the centre-forward position. Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez have combined for nine goals in the Premier League this season, with neither on more than five strikes.
This suggests that Slot could improve his squad for the 2025/26 campaign and beyond by moving for a striker who can find the back of the net on a consistent basis year-on-year.
David, who was dubbed “one of the best STs in the world” by football personality Tony Marinaro, has scored a staggering 102 goals in 214 matches for Lille, along with 31 goals in 59 caps for Canada.

Sat inside the relegation zone by a point, Vitor Pereira’s side could certainly do with the added experience that Oxlade-Chamberlain would provide, but he may not be the only Besiktas ace to arrive before the end of the window.
According to journalist Luis Pinto Coelho as relayed by Sport Witness, Wolves are now eyeing a move to sign Rafa Silva from Besiktas alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain this month.
The 31-year-old forward, who can also play on both wings, would certainly suit the Portuguese theme which often takes place at Molineux and would instantly provide cover for the injured Jorgen Strand-Larsen, who was forced off with a hamstring knock against Arsenal last time out.

With just four days remaining until the transfer window slams shut, however, Wolves will have to move fast if they want to secure their target. Given recent links to Danso, Oxlade-Chamberlain and now Silva, it may well be a hectic few days for those in the Midlands.
"Creative" Silva could replace Cunha
In the short-term, signing Silva could drag Wolves to Premier League safety such is his experience on the biggest stages around European football. By the time next season arrives, meanwhile, even at 31 years old he could become the natural replacement for Matheus Cunha should the Brazilian decide to depart amid growing interest.

Described as “creative” by journalist Zach Lowy during his Benfica days, Silva is almost as experienced as it gets and could yet follow in the footsteps of several compatriots by starring at Wolves in the near future.
Having missed out on Manu Silva earlier in the window too, Wolves would certainly be making up for their failure by turning towards the Besiktas star in the coming days.
Of course, there is also a reality in which the Midlands club manage to keep hold of Cunha and potentially form quite the partnership between their star man and Silva, which could fire them to Premier League safety.
Wolves are certainly a side to watch in the coming days, as they attempt to close their deal to sign Danso and chase further reinforcements for Pereira.
