No play possible on final day of season, but promotion was already assured

Leeds United have garnered a reputation for not being flash spenders during the winter transfer market in recent years with this quiet window being no exception to that rule.

This time last year, the promotion-chasing Whites only welcomed Connor Roberts through the door on a disappointing loan switch.

In 2025, no deals were clinched by Daniel Farke and Co ahead of the crucial Championship promotion run-in to follow.

Consequently, this could well leave the West Yorkshire side a little short on numbers in some positions of the pitch, with a lack of depth perhaps hurting them moving forward in the number ten spot.

Leeds were interested in adding some more personnel to this area according to reports…

Leeds' chase of Emiliano Buendia

Indeed, Farke would have loved for a reunion to take place for Emiliano Buendia to move away from Aston Villa to the high-flying Whites, having been a transformative figure for the Argentine attacker at Norwich City.

Across their celebrated time together in Norfolk, the South American ace picked up a stunning 24 goals and 41 assists in total, culminating in two promotion successes up to the Premier League.

Therefore, it would have been a no-brainer for Farke to try and get his hands on Buendia again, with reports linking him with a move throughout the window. The 28-year-old’s uplifting presence alongside the likes of Joel Piroe and Wilfried Gnonto would no doubt have helped Leeds seal a return to the top flight.

But, in the end, Buendia joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan instead, as the Whites boss was left with a feeling of what could have been.

Frustratingly for the promotion-chasers, they could have already had their own version of the ex-Norwich star…

Even the most ardent Leeds fan might struggle to remember Mateusz Bogusz’s stop-start time at Elland Road looking back, considering the Polish midfielder only ever made three first-team appearances.

Often chucked out on loan instead of being given his big break in the Whites senior fold, there will be a slight regret in the air now that Leeds didn’t try a bit harder to gift him more chances to shine before offloading him for good, especially when you look at how he’s developed since exiting the club.

Bogusz would become a different beast altogether when signing for LAFC in the MLS straight after his underwhelming stay in Yorkshire, with a staggering 31 goal contributions coming his way last season from 48 clashes.

Capable of playing all across the forward positions too – with one of his preferred spots being that number ten spot Buendia has thrived in – the 23-year-old could well have been an ideal alternative for Farke to rely upon.

After all, the exciting 5 foot 9 talent was labelled as a “dangerous” attacker by football journalist Greg Beacham during the peak of his powers in Los Angeles, with Bogusz now moving on to Cruz Azul to further advance his career.

Of course, the gulf in quality is there between the American game and the high-stakes pressures of the English game, but there will be a lingering regret still that Bogusz wasn’t given a fair crack of the whip.

With no Bogusz or Buendia to call upon, Farke will just have to keep everything crossed that Brenden Aaronson doesn’t fall victim to fatigue as his team’s only out-and-out number ten.

Desde que iniciou sua carreira como treinador, Ceni nunca perdeu para o Avaí. Em cinco jogos, foram quatro vitórias e um empate, quando dirigia o São Paulo na sua primeira passagem, em 2017, e também sob o comando do Fortaleza, nas temporadas de 2018 e 2019.

A sequência começou no confronto válido pelo Brasileirão de 2017, com a vitória do São Paulo por 2 a 0. Depois, na Série B de 2018, já no comando do Fortaleza, um empate por 1 a 1. No segundo turno, outro triunfo, desta vez por 1 a 0.

The Yorkshire side was very quiet during January, but it is expected to be a busy summer, especially if promotion is secured. In the last week or so, it’s been reported that Leeds have held internal talks over the signing of James McAtee from Manchester City. The midfielder is struggling to nail down a regular spot, and his future could be decided in the summer if that doesn’t change between now and the end of the campaign.

It’s also been claimed that Leeds may consider signing Conor Coady from Leicester City in the summer, as Farke eyes defensive reinforcements.

The centre-back has struggled for consistent game time since moving to the King Power Stadium and could be available for cheap in the summer, when he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

Leeds update on permanent Solomon transfer

As well as the Whites looking at players from other clubs, they are also keeping an open mind about their current loan star, with reports suggesting he and the club could be open to a permanent transfer.

However, according to Leeds Live’s Isaac Johnson, Leeds are undecided whether to pursue a permanent move for Solomon at the end of the season.

Solomon joined the Whites on a season-long loan deal in the summer, with no option to make the deal into a permanent switch. Therefore, if Leeds want the player to remain at Elland Road, they will need to agree to a transfer fee with Tottenham. Solomon has become a key player under Farke, and his popularity among the fanbase has grown with him “very happy” at the club, but that could drive the price tag higher.

And Leeds are unsure over a permanent switch, partly because they don’t yet know which league they will be playing in next season. Furthermore, it is unclear what Solomon’s stance is on staying at Leeds for the long term, and they have also yet to understand Spurs’ stance on selling the winger.

The 25-year-old has only played six times for Spurs, and with them bringing in new attacking players in the last couple of transfer windows, Solomon’s future at the Premier League club looks all but over.

Leeds will know that sealing promotion to the Premier League gives them the best chance of signing the player on a permanent basis. The winger has fitted into Farke’s system rather well, and with Wilfred Gnonto’s future very much up in the air, keeping Solomon may be something Leeds have to do.

Rangers have considered hiring a “fantastic” manager who could be Barry Ferguson’s permanent successor at Ibrox, according to an update from journalist Ben Jacobs.

It has been a dramatic day or so for the Gers after the sacking of Philippe Clement on Sunday evening, following the dour 2-0 defeat at home to St. Mirren, in yet another poor Scottish Premiership result.

Rangers are in no rush to bring in a permanent successor to the 50-year-old, with Ferguson confirmed as interim manager until the end of the campaign. The former Gers captain is a potentially popular option to come in and fill the void for the time being, given his knowledge and passion for the club.

Meanwhile, a reunion with Steven Gerrard looks possible in the summer, with the former manager seen as one of the favourites to come in permanently. Fabrizio Romano has admitted it is far from nailed-on, however, saying: “At the moment nothing has been decided, so let’s keep all options open. The club is assessing options to replace Clement but nothing direct yet with Gerrard or his camp.”

Other candidates are clearly going to emerge for Rangers in the near future as they plan for life after Ferguson, and another name has now been thrown into the hat.

According to Jacobs for Give Me Sport, Rangers considered David Wagner as an option to replace Clement before they opted for their former skipper as a safe pair of hands, putting him firmly in the mix to get the gig in the summer presuming Ferguson does not do enough to earn a long-term stay.

Wagner is an impressive manager who could be a strong choice for Rangers, now possessing a huge amount of experience at a high level, not least guiding Huddersfield Town from the Championship to the Premier League back in 2017.

The 53-year-old has been lauded by Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe in the past, even comparing him to friend and managerial legend Jurgen Klopp: “Nobody had really heard of David Wagner before he came into the club. But the philosophy he has instilled of hard work, of having the right characters as well as good players is fantastic, and you can see the team really want to play for him as well.

وتابع مرتجي: “لأول مرة يوم الثلاثاء المقبل سيكون هناك مؤتمر صحفي في حضور ريبيرو ومدرب إنتر ميامي وفي حضور إنفانتينو وبعض الشخصيات المهمة، يريدون أن يعملوا شيئا للافتتاح ويليق بالفريق المضيف وصاحب الأرض والنادي الأهلي، قلت قبل ذلك البطولة توقيتها تغير عندما أصبح الأهلي متواجدا في مباراة الافتتاح، البطولة كانت بدايتها يوم 15 الساعة الثالثة ظهرًا، أصبح الموعد يوم 14 الساعة 8 مساءًا، بسبب وجود قيمة وقامة كبيرة للنادي الأهلي”.

وواصل: “كنت سعيدا جدًا من الأداء والروح أمام باتشوكا، الشوط الأول الطقس كان حارا والشمس كانت قوية، شعرنا بفارق بعد التدعيمات الجديدة، لدينا فريقين، دكة بدلاء قوية جدًا، والمدير الفني يجتهد ولا يدخر جهدا ويعمل بنظام، كل الأجواء والمعطيات لكي نوفق ونحقق شيء جيدا، تجربة باتشيكو مفيدة وقوية جدًا قبل مباراة إنتر ميامي”.

O Cuiabá teve a primeira boa chance da partida, com Marllon testando rente a trave após cobrança de escanteio. O duelo ficou bem brigado no meio-campo, mas as equipes estavam com dificuldades de criar bons lances.

Mais tarde, Bruno Silva desarmou Valdívia pela direita e cruzou na medida, mas Muriqui cabeceou para fora. Aos 28′, Morato arrisca de fora da área e Walter defendeu. No rebote, Eduardo aproveitou e abriu o placar para o Avaí.

Na reta final, Rodriguinho recebeu cruzamento de Gava e testou para fora. Uendel ganhou disputa de bola passou para Valdívia, que de primeira, levou perigo.

A VIRADA!
Na volta do intervalo, o Dourado conseguiu a virada. Logo aos três minutos, Rafael Gava cobrou falta na área, a zaga afastou e Valdívia aproveitou a sobra, ampliando em chute rasteiro.

Mais tarde, Osorio cobrou escanteio, Rodriguinho parou no goleiro Douglas, mas Joaquim esticou o pé e balançou as redes. O Avaí teve duas chances, primeiro com Bissoli, em chute para fora e logo depois, com Ranielle, de cabeça.

No fim, o Avaí foi para cima, mas o Dourado foi perigoso dos contra-ataques.Alesson puxou contragolpe com muita velocidade e bateu para o meio da área. Douglas espalmou para o meio, e Rodriguinho finalizou em cima da zaga no rebote.
