استقرت اللجنة الخماسية التي تُدير اتحاد الكرة، برئاسة عمرو الجنايني، على سفر “شيف” خاص مع بعثة منتخب مصر، في مباراتها أمام توجو، في الجولة الرابعة من التصفيات المؤهلة لبطولة كأس الأمم الإفريقية، بالكاميرون.

Reported long-term Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Mateo Kovacic produced another largely anonymous display on Monday as Chelsea missed out on a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup following a 2-0 defeat by Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, and Spurs fans were quick to deliver their verdict on the midfielder on Twitter.

The English version of the same source then reported in December that Mauricio Pochettino will push to bring the 24-year-old to the capital on a permanent basis when his time with Chelsea comes to an end with the La Liga giants keen to sell, which is no surprise given their midfield has been weakened following the departure of Mousa Dembele in January.

Tottenham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Kovacic following his latest display, and while one said “Kovacic would be great at Spurs”, another said “he’s just so anonymous”.

أكد الفرنسي باتريس كارتيرون المدير الفني لنادي التعاون السعودي أنه تولى قيادة الفريق لمساعدته على العبور في مواجهات دوري أبطال آسيا.

ومن المقرر أن يلعب التعاون ضد برسبوليس الإيراني اليوم ضمن منافسات الجولة الرابعة لدور المجموعات ببطولة آسيا.

وكان كارتيرون قد رحل عن تدريب الزمالك بعد فسخ عقده ودفع قيمة الشرط الجزائي وانتقل لتدريب التعاون.

وقال باتريس كاريترون خلال مقابلة أجراها عبر قناة “بي إن سبورت إتش دي 7”: “انطباعي الأول أن اللاعبين والفريق يحتاج إلى المساعدة، المباراة الاخيرة كانت لديهم صعبة أنا هنا لمساعدتهم”.

Leeds United forward Kemar Roofe will undergo a knee scan on Monday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

What’s the situation?

Roofe played the full 90 minutes of Leeds’ 2-1 win over Swansea City in the Championship on Wednesday night.

However, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the attacker has undergone treatment on his knee since then, raising concerns that he could be carrying a potentially season-changing issue.

Roofe has played 26 Championship matches for the Whites this season, which is a clear indication of his importance.

The Whites are not back in action until next weekend when they host Bolton Wanderers, but then face Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion in quick succession.

The fact that the 26-year-old was mobile on Saturday and indeed finished the clash with Swansea last week suggests that the issue might be minor.

However, Leeds will be sweating on the fitness of the Englishman, who has 14 Championship goals to his name during the 2018-19 campaign.

How big a miss would Roofe be for Leeds?

The fact that Roofe is the team’s leading scorer this season counts for a lot, although there are some Leeds fans who have not been happy with his performances in recent weeks.

Indeed, a number of the club’s supporters have recently criticised the forward, who has netted just once in his last eight Championship appearances.

He is unquestionably Leeds’ most proven option in the final third though, and Patrick Bamford has had his own knee issues this season.

The simple fact of the matter is that Roofe is crucial to Marcelo Bielsa’s side, meaning that a potential long-term absence would be a huge blow at this stage of the season.

Leeds have 14 Championship matches left to play this term and currently occupy third spot in the table, two points behind leaders Norwich City.

There’s suddenly a lot of excitement around Newcastle United again.

The Magpies are playing attractive, attacking football and have won three out of their last five Premier League games. Rafa Benitez has clearly weaved his magic, with a tinker here and there producing a winning combination.

While there’s a lot of talk about Salomon Rondon lighting up their attack or youngsters like Sean Longstaff playing their part, defender Fabian Schar’s involvement is as vital. The Swiss defender’s been like a breath of fresh air in the Magpies’ defence, with his involvement going forward getting the lions’ share of attention.

Schar’s not only been rock-solid defensively but shown admirable ambition going forward, getting rewarded against Burnley with a pile-driver to score Newcastle’s first. He also fulfilled his defensive duties superbly against a physical Clarets side, making seven clearances, four aerial wins and eight ball-recoveries, adding to his hero status on Tyneside. He’s played a big part, helping solidifying Newcastle’s defensive strength, hence resulting in vital wins over the past few weeks. Schar’s helped them to back-to-back clean-sheets and formed a strong partnership with Jamal Lascelles. Ever since his blitz against Cardiff City, where he scored two stunning goals – including one where he danced past multiple men before finishing beautifully- his confidence’s gone up.

Schar’s now operating freely and using his intelligence to tighten up the Magpies defensive structure. If he keeps up his impressive work at the back and scoring world-class goals, it won’t be long before bigger sides come hunting for his services.

Sean Longstaff is expected to miss the rest of the season, Newcastle have confirmed, but will this drag the Magpies back into the relegation scrap?

What’s the story?

Longstaff was replaced with a knee injury in Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham, and the club have confirmed that the youngster suffered ligament damage.

In a statement on their official site, the Magpies said: “Newcastle United can confirm midfielder Sean Longstaff is likely to miss the remainder of the 2018/19 season with a knee ligament injury.”

There is light at the end of the tunnel though, as The Chronicle reports that the midfielder will not require surgery to repair the damage in his knee.

This means he could be back in light training by the end of March, and will presumably be 100 per cent fit by the beginning of next season.

Silver linings

Longstaff has been fabulous for Rafael Benitez since breaking into the side, simultaneously providing both physicality and defensive contribution as well as calmness in possession and high quality passing.

This is something that St. James’ Park simply hasn’t seen recently barring the odd Jonjo Shelvey master-class, and there’s no doubt they will miss the 21 year-old.

However, with Shelvey, Mo Diame and Ki Sung-yueng all waiting in the wings, Benitez still has more options in midfield that he had at this point last season, when he was able to not only escape the drop but surge up into the top ten.

With Fulham and Huddersfield all but doomed, Magpies fans should take solace in the fact that Cardiff will play four of the top six in their last nine games. The Bluebirds have also lost Sol Bamba to injury, so they are definitely the favourites to go down.

As far as knee ligament injuries go, if Longstaff returns next season in perfect shape with the club’s Premier League status still in tact, this is about as good as it gets.

وفاز السكاي بلو في تلك المباراة بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف.

وبناءً على ذلك، قرر الاتحاد البرازيلي استبعاد جيسوس من مواجهات أكتوبر في تصفيات أمريكا الجنوبية المؤهلة لمونديال 2022، واستبداله بزميله ماتيوس كونا.

وأشارت الشبكة إلى إنه لم يتم الكشف عن طبيعة إصابة جيسوس، إلا إنه من المتوقع غيابه عن المباريات الثلاث المقبلة لـ مانشستر سيتي.

ويعاني مانشستر سيتي من كثرة الغيابات، إلى جانب أجويرو، حيث هناك كذلك برناردو سيلفا وجواو كانسيلو وزينتشينكو، وإيلكاي جوندوجان.

ذكرت تقارير صحفية ألمانية، أن نادي بايرن ميونخ حسم موقفه من بيع دافيد ألابا، خلال سوق الانتقالات الصيفية الحالية.

وأشارت صحيفة “التايمز” الإنجليزية إلى أن ألابا يعد هدفًا لنادي مانشستر سيتي، في الميركاتو الحالي (طالع التفاصيل).

وقالت صحيفة “سبورت بيلد”: “القرار اتُخذ بالفعل، بايرن ميونخ لن يسمح لدافيد ألابا بأن يرحل هذا الصيف”.

وأضافت الصحيفة: “ذلك بغض النظر عن النادي الذي يرغب في ضم ألابا ومدى ارتفاع قيمة العرض المُقدم للحصول على الدولي النمساوي”.

وأتمت: “بايرن لن يبيع ألابا، لأنه لاعب أساسي في خطة هانزي فليك، المدير الفني للفريق البافاري، وغير قابل للاستغناء”.

ألابا، البالغ من العمر 28 عامًا، ولم يتوصل إلى اتفاق بعد مع بايرن ميونخ لتجديد عقده الذي ينتهي في صيف 2021.

League One promotion-chasers Barnsley face a potentially season-defining clash against Sunderland at Oakwell on Tuesday night.

Daniel Stendel’s side, though, could give themselves breathing space with a win. Barnsley’s assistant manager Dale Tonge certainly believes that the outcome of Tuesday’s match could have significant ramifications for the remainder of the club’s campaign.

What he said

Speaking to the press on Monday, as quoted by Barnsley’s official website, Tonge said: “We look at it as a must-win for us – that’s all we’re looking at. Let’s win the game and the rest will take care of itself…But I don’t think this game is the be all and end all between now and the end of the season. We’re under no illusions; it’s a massive game.”

A vital clash

With plenty of football still to be played after this match, it isn’t ‘the be all and end all’ exactly. However, a win would give the victor a major confidence boost, extra momentum and a psychological edge heading into the League One season’s run-in. 

Stendel and Tonge will both recognise the importance of this game, but to even mutter the words “must-win” certainly puts some neccesary presure on the Yorkshire outfit’s players.

The duo should also be prepared to have to lift their side should Tuesday end in disappointment. A negative result against Sunderland could derail Barnsley’s season if the management team allow it to.
