أكد جوزيه مورينيو المدير الفني لفريق توتنهام الإنجليزي، أنه تعلم من الماضي وقرر الحفاظ على مشاعره تحت السيطرة والتحكم فيها.

مورينيو كان معروفًا بـ انفعالاته على مقاعد البدلاء وإثارته للجدل دائمًا طوال أحداث المباراة، منذ أن كان في بورتو مرورًا بـ تشيلسي وانتر ميلان وريال مدريد ومانشستر يونايتد، والآن في توتنهام.

وقال مورينيو في المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص بمواجهة توتنهام ولودوجوريتس البلغاري في الدوري الأوروبي غدًا: “لم أفقد شغفي، ما زلت مهووسًا بكرة القدم”.

وأضاف: “فقط أصبحت أكثر تحكمًا في مشاعري وانفعالاتي، أنا عاطفي دائمًا لكن الآن تعلمت أنني يجب أن أبقى هادئًا قليلًا”.

مورينيو بطل الدوري الإنجليزي 3 مرات والفائز بدوري أبطال أوروبا مع بورتو وإنتر ميلان، يسعى لتحقيق إنجازًا جديدًا مع توتنهام.

وواصل: “الآن أنا أكثر خبرة في الدوري، ولدي المزيد من التحكم في المشاعر، تقدمت في العمر وتعلّمت الكثير خلال مسيرتي في كرة القدم”.

توتنهام يحتل المركز الثالث في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، بفارق نقطتين عن المتصدر ليفربول، وفي حالة الفوز يوم السبت على وست بروميتش سيحتل الصدارة مؤقتًا.

وعلق مورينيو: “إنه شيء جميل، لن أخفي أن ترتيب فريقنا في الدوري يسعدنا كثيرًا، ولكن علينا أن نُدرك أن هذا لا يعني الكثير، الدوري ما زال طويلًا”.

واختتم: “النظر إلى رؤية أنك في المراكز الثلاثة أو الأربعة الأولى، يحدث فارقًا نفسيًا لديّ ولدى اللاعبين”.

Sky Sports pundit Liam Rosenior believes that Mauricio Pochettino will have learned a number of lessons from Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 loss to Ajax in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, per The Debate.

What’s he said?

Spurs fell to a disappointing loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday evening, with Donny van de Beek scoring the only goal of the game.

Pochettino’s men, then, need to win in Amsterdam if they are to have any hope of reaching the final in Madrid.

And Rosenior, speaking on the Debate podcast (April 30, two minutes, 35 seconds), believes that the Argentine will have learned that he cannot again set up with a 3-5-2 formation.

Indeed, Spurs struggled in the opening half an hour against the Dutch outfit, who dominated possession in the first period, but found a foothold after Moussa Sissoko replaced the injured Jan Vertonghen and utilised a back four.

Asked about how Pochettino can turn the game around, the former Fulham and Hull City star said: “Not to play 3-5-2 against Ajax. It’s difficult setting your team up as a coach or a manager and he will have looked at that, but before Vertonghen went off he actually moved to a back four because, what was happening, Ajax were building through their two full-backs; they had so much space and time.

“From 3-5-2 it’s so difficult to press the opposition’s full-backs. As soon as they changed to a diamond, and they go to a four, Sissoko comes on, they pressed Ajax higher up the pitch and Ajax’s passing rhythm went out of the game.

“All of a sudden they got themselves back in the game so, yes, being 1-0 down is difficult but he will have learned so many lessons from a tactical point of view.”

Major injuries

Spurs struggled against Ajax because of the club’s lengthy injury list.

Sissoko started the game on the bench and Pochettino’s men subsequently ceded possession to a team that loves to dominate the ball.

The Frenchman made a significant difference after his introduction, taking the ball on the transition and giving his side an outlet on the counter-attack.

Next week, Sissoko will likely be fit to play from the outset, while Son Heung-Min will not be suspended for the second leg.

Pochettino perhaps made the wrong call but next week, with two of his best players back to fitness, he is unlikely to make such an error again.

Rangers are reportedly eyeing a move for Andre Gray, but would he be good enough to replace Alfredo Morelos?

According to The Evening Times, Steven Gerrard is considering a loan approach for Gray, who has scored nine times for Watford this season.

Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Greg Stewart are all expected to move to Ibrox this summer per the report, and Gray is now a loan target as well.

This comes after a report in The Express said Morelos is on “thin ice” after his red card in the Old Firm.

“Undoubtedly. The Watford man matches Morelos for pace and power, while also having a pretty lethal finish. I’d even argue that he would be an upgrade. Morelos is fantastic and brings so much to the SPFL, but if Rangers can get a striker who scores the goals he does but without all the bans and suspensions, they’d be much closer to a title.”

Jack Saville

“I think Rangers would make a major blunder if they replaced Morelos with Andre Gray. The Watford striker has experience in the Premier League but he’s practically renowned for his inability to find the back of the net, so much so that he’s become a laughing stock amongst the Hornets faithful during periods of his spell at Vicarage Road. That reputation has dwindled this season, with a return of seven goals suggesting he might have turned a corner, but I’m far from convinced this is anything other than a small purple patch. Gerrard will be torn if he is forced to choose a replacement for Morelos this summer but Gray is not the answer.”

Billy Meyers

“I think Andre Gray would be a more than capable replacement for Alfredo Morelos if he leaves Rangers. The former Burnley man is fast, powerful and a decent finisher, and his form this season has began to show why Watford shelled out £18m for his services. Also, it can be argued that the Scottish top-flight is not as tough as the Premier League, so Gray’s struggles to find the back of the net consistently may not carry over if he makes to switch to Ibrox. This would be a marquee signing for a club like Rangers.”

كشفت تقارير صحفية إسبانية أن لاعبي ريال مدريد شعروا بحالة من الحيرة تجاه اختيارات المدرب زين الدين زيدان في مباراة الأمس أمام فالنسيا في بطولة الدوري الإسباني.

وتلاقى الفريقان في الجولة التاسعة من الليجا، حيث خسر ريال مدريد بأربعة أهداف مقابل هدف.

وحسب صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية، فإن زيدان أثار حيرة لاعبي ريال مدريد بسبب اختياراته في التشكيل الأساسي أمام الخفافيش.

وأوضحت أن عدم تواجد فيرلاند ميندي أو توني كروس في تشكيل ريال مدريد الأساسي أمام فالنسيا جعل اللاعبين في حيرة من أمرهم.

وظل ميندي على دكة بدلاء ريال مدريد طوال مواجهة الأمس، بينما شارك كروس لمدة 15 دقيقة فقط.

وأشارت إلى إنه يُعتقد أن لاعبي الفريق المنتظمين لم يتمكنوا من فهم منطق زيدان بالاعتماد على مارسيلو وإيسكو، بينما استبعد اثنين من لاعبيه النجوم.

The Saints were brought back down to earth after a solid run of results as they were thumped 3-0 by West Ham last time out – one of their heaviest defeats of 2019 – but they will be counting on getting three points in front of a home crowd this weekend.

With survival already secured, the game means little to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side and most at St Mary’s Stadium will likely be looking ahead to the transfer window, which will give the Austrian boss a chance to revamp his squad ahead of his first full season at the helm.

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson is clearly intrigued as to how the former RB Leipzig boss is going to tweak his side, as he offered his predictions ahead of the final round of Premier League fixtures:

“Huddersfield are another team saying goodbye to the top flight, and although the Terriers got a good result against Manchester United last weekend, I don’t see then signing off on a high note.

“Southampton can look forward to next season under manager Ralph Hasenhuttl with lots of optimism, and it will be interesting to see who he signs in the summer.”

The former Liverpool midfielder forecasts a 2-0 win for Saints this weekend and an ‘interesting’ summer transfer window. With the likes of Mohamed Elyounoussi, Shane Long and Charlie Austin – none of whose future’s are certain – on the books, Southampton fans could see a number of familiar faces leave in the coming months and a number of unfamiliar ones through the door.

Leeds United have failed in their bid to return to the Premier League after being knocked out of the playoffs by Derby County on Wednesday night.

It seemed to be the Whites’ destiny to go up this season. Marcelo Bielsa had them playing some of the most attractive football the second division had ever seen, and they absolutely dominated the league table for the first few months of the campaign.

A late capitulation saw them miss out on a spot in the top two, and their poor performance at Elland Road midweek has seen their season end abruptly.

The loss to Derby meant heartbreak for supporters and players alike. There were many tears shed on the pitch after the final whistle, but nobody looked more crestfallen than Pablo Hernandez after a physically-draining campaign.

The Spaniard has been one of the longest-serving members of the United squad having joined in 2016 under the management of Garry Monk.

Hernandez has been arguably Leeds’ best player this season, netting 12 goals and providing 12 assists alongside picking up the club’s Player of the Year award.

In just three years the midfielder has become a cult hero at Elland Road, and it’s clear to see that he has a strong affinity with the club.

Aged 34, this may have represented Hernandez’s last real chance to be a part of a promotion-winning side at the Yorkshire club. His tears tell the full story as he looks dejected about the fact his team have once again failed to bring Premier League football back to Elland Road.

وبحسب صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية، فإن مدرب بلجيكا روبرتو مارتينيز لا يزال يأمل أنّ تتحول نتيجة هازارد من إيجابية إلى سلبية، من أجل استدعاءه لخوض مباراة الدنمارك.

هازارد كان اختبر بعد إصابته مرتين خلال هذا الأسبوع وجاءت نتيجته سلبية، ومن المقرر أن يخضع لمسحة أخرى غدًا الثلاثاء.

يُذكر أن بلجيكا تستقبل الدنمارك مساء الأربعاء المُقبل، في تمام الساعة العاشرة إلا ربع بتوقيت القاهرة، ضمن لقاءات الجولة السادسة والأخيرة من دور المجموعات بدوري الأمم.

What a disappointment Leo Bonatini’s been since he arrived in January! Indeed, Nottingham Forest fans will be happy to see the back on him and it’s no surprise.

Birmingham Live, via Nottinghamshire Live, have reported they don’t expect Forest to make the loan from Wolves permanent after a disastrous time at the City Ground. He’s only played five times in the Championship and hasn’t scored once.

Forest are in need of firepower and that’s why he was brought in, but he’s clearly had no impact whatsoever. He’s been useless and doesn’t deserve to return at the start of next season. Who knows what Wolves will do with him now? Thankfully, it’s not Forest’s problem, of which they have enough.

Clearly, the club have to aim to push into the play-offs next season, but they won’t get anywhere near if he’s relied on for goals. Luckily, now he’s going, they have a space in the squad for a youngster or a new signing that can actually put the ball over the line.

The Brazilian is rated at £4.5m on Transfermarkt, but we’re not sure where they’ve got that from. Forest shouldn’t take him off Wolves’ hands if they were going to give him away. It seems sense has prevailed and he’ll get nowhere near the Forest shirt again.

He’s still just 25-years-old, so he has some developing to do yet, but he needs to do that somewhere else now. The fans won’t have the patience for him next year, but fans at a new club might do. What a relief it is for Forest to see the back of him.
