Leeds’ decision to give Mateusz Klich such a lengthy deal could be a risk

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Leeds United haven’t messed about this week when it comes to tying players down to new contracts.

Indeed, both Mateusz Klich and Leif Davis have put pen to paper on new deals at the club.

Of course, it’s great to see two talented players signing extended terms, but United may well be taking a risk in handing a four and a half year deal to the Polish midfielder.

While we can’t accurately say what the Pole’s weekly wage will be, we can’t imagine the only player to have started every single league game under Marcelo Bielsa will be one of the lowest earners in the squad.

For an indicator of the highest earner at Elland Road, Patrick Bamford and Kiko Casilla are both on £40k a week.

The 29-year-old is a great talent at this level, and nobody can doubt that after he contributed to 19 goals last term. However, that doesn’t change the fact that he is almost 30, and that’s where the main issue with this new deal is.

Usually, tying a player of Klich’s calibre down to a lengthy contract would be a good thing, but at this very moment, you’d have to say that it’s not the best idea.

Of course, players can be effective well into their 30s, but the midfielder’s role and the amount of wear and tear that must be taking a toll on his body make this seem unlikely.

The Pole covers every blade of grass when he steps onto the pitch, and after playing almost 80 matches since the start of the 2018/19 season, he’s not really had time to recover. Bielsa has never dropped him for a league outing and that could affect the rate at which he declines in his later years.

As a result, to offer him a contract that will expire when he’s 34 is a bit short-sighted.

It’s not just the possibility of Klich declining either, there are hopefully going to be huge changes at the Yorkshire club in the near future.

Leeds have real ambitions of reaching the Premier League this season, and with the SPI ratings indicating that United have a 69% chance of going up this season it seems as if they may be playing top-flight football sooner rather than later.

The fact of the matter is that Klich is unproven at that level, and having him tied down to such a long contract could see the Yorkshire club backed into a corner if he doesn’t cut it in the Premier League.

Everton look to Goncalo Paciencia as an answer for their problem position

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Everton are looking to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Goncalo Paciencia in January, as reported by Goal.

What’s the story?

Marco Silva has asked Everton to go back into the transfer market for another striker during the January transfer window and Pacienca is their answer.

When recently speaking to FFC about Everton’s situation in the position, Tony Cottee said: “Well, they’ve spent a lot of money so far, that’s the thing. So, hopefully the answer’s at the club already.”

However, it seems as though the Toffees are now looking to someone who has had success elsewhere this season, with 25-year-old Paciencia having scored 6 goals and got 1 assist from 9 Bundesliga starts and 2 substitute appearances.

Fixing a problem position

This comes at a time when Everton’s strikers are still struggling to truly produce, with specific focus being put on Moise Kean – his dad has claimed the move to England was a mistake, as reported by Centro Suono Sport (via Sky Sports).

The teenager has started 2 league games, coming off the bench in 7 more, with a return of just 1 assist and no goals so far.

Cenk Tosun has managed just 1 start and 2 substitute appearances, scoring the equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur.

Their current top scorers are Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, who both have 3 strikes to their names in the Premier League.

Their struggles in front of goal can be encapsulated by the fact that there are just five teams in the top tier who have scored fewer times than Everton.

If the Toffees want to reach the European places again, they simply must improve their scoring record, and Paciencia’s form this season suggests he can be the key to doing just that.

Dyche could soon unleash Everton’s very own Jude Bellingham

Everton Football Club have had an indifferent start to the new Premier League season. The Toffees started off the campaign poorly and it led to plenty of questions surrounding the future of Sean Dyche as the club’s manager, especially given the recent takeover by The Freidkin Group.

However, recent results have been more uplifting for the Blues, and early fears about being dragged into a relegation battle may well have been quashed.

With that being said, there are still alarm bells ringing for Dyche and Everton, as is shown when looking in more detail at their underlying stats from this season.

Everton’s stats from the 2024/25 season

Currently, the Merseysiders sit in 16th place in the Premier League, on just five points after eight games. They have one win, against Crystal Palace two weeks ago, and a couple of draws against fellow relegation-threatened side Leicester City and Newcastle last Saturday.

They are currently far short of Phil McNulty’s predictions for this season. McNulty, who is BBC Sport’s chief football writer, predicted the Toffees to finish 11th this term. He explained he does “not see Everton struggling this season”, which so far has not quite how it has worked out.

Indeed, their underlying stats, courtesy of Understat, are slightly underwhelming. Aside from being on five points, the Toffees are 17th for expected points, predicted to be on 5.36. Not only that, the seven goals they have to their name, the equal tenth most in the league, is also worse than they should be doing. Their expected goals tally stands at 8.09 xG currently.

Despite a tough start, there have been some standout performers for Dyche’s side so far. The Merseysiders have been able to count on Dwight McNeil consistently, and he has three goals and two assists in seven games. Summer signing Iliman Ndiaye has also impressed, notably scoring against Leicester towards the end of September.

There is another summer signing who could also drastically help improve their season. That man is Tim Iroegbunam.

Why it's time to unleash Tim Iroegbunam

21-year-old midfielder Iroegbunam made the move to Goodison Park from Aston Villa over the summer, costing Everton around £9m and signing a deal until 2027 with the Merseysiders.

Tim Iroegbunam for Everton

So far this term, the former Villa man has played a sporadic role for his new club, starting their first four Premier League games, but was a substitute for the next three, coming off the bench twice. He also started in the Carabao Cup against Doncaster Rovers, where he registered an assist.

When Jude Bellingham left Borussia Dortmund last summer, there were reports linking the young midfielder with an incredible move to the Signal Iduna Park, as a replacement for the now-Real Madrid superstar, as noted by football scout Antonio Mango.

Whilst he is not necessarily of the same profile as Bellingham as he is now known – a box-crashing number 10 with creative influence in the final third – the box-to-box midfielder the England international was at Dortmund is certainly similar to Iroegbunam’s profile.

Football analyst and host of The Overlap Breakdown H described the youngster as a “dominant” ball carrier in the middle of the park, and a “long-legged ball-winner”, standing at around 6 foot tall; indeed very similar to Bellingham.

The stats from the 2024/25 campaign so far certainly back this theory up. The former England U20 international has some standout numbers as per Squawka.

Per 90 minutes this season, he has won an average of 6.9 ground duels and made 4.3 tackles. In possession, the youngster completes 10.2 forward passes per game, has a take-on success rate of 50% and completes an average of 1.2 take-ons per match.

It is fair to say that Dyche, and Everton, have a very exciting talent on their hands in Iroegbanum. The 21-year-old might be at the start of his Toffees career, but he could play a huge role in their survival this term, and eventually help them kick on and climb the table.

Rangers once had the next "Stevie G", he’s now worth just £125k after exit

Glasgow Rangers finally clicked into gear during their Europa League victory on Thursday evening.

The 2-0 win over Malmö could arguably have been by a higher margin, but several easy chances were missed. Nevertheless, a win is a win and securing all three points ensures Philippe Clement begins life positively in Europe’s second-tier event.

The Belgian saw several of his summer signings produce excellent displays in Sweden, as Nedim Bajrami scored after just 55 seconds, while Neraysho Kasanwirjo was solid on his European debut for the Ibrox side.

It finally looks like the team is clicking on the pitch. Momentum now needs to be carried into the Premiership clash against Hibernian on Sunday.

Connor Barron was arguably the standout on the pitch for the Gers, performing way above his tender age, dominating the midfield battle.

Hopefully, he can continue to develop over the next few years, as there is no doubt the Light Blues have a special talent on their hands.

It wouldn’t be the first time the club had a youngster who looked like the next best thing, however, and failed to deliver on their potential, as Mark Warburton signed a midfielder who had made a name for himself at Liverpool.

Mark Warburton’s Rangers signings

The former Brentford manager took charge of the Gers ahead of the 2015/16 campaign, using that summer to beef up his squad for a promotion tilt.

Indeed, he signed players such as Danny Wilson, James Tavernier, Jason Holt and Andy Halliday, along with securing a few loan signings in the process.

They all played their part as the Light Blues secured a return to the top flight, while winning the Challenge Cup and reaching the final of the Scottish Cup.

Back in the Premiership after four years, it was clear Warburton would have to add some quality to his first-team squad. This saw players such as Niko Kranjcar, Philippe Senderos and Joey Barton added, three names that had a wealth of Premier League experience behind them.

Where Are They Now

Your star player or biggest flop has left the club but what are they doing in the present day? This article is part of Football FanCast's Where Are They Now series.

It didn’t exactly do the club much good, finishing third in the top division while failing to win either of the domestic cups. Warburton would be gone before the end of the season, departing in February 2017, and it looked like the club were stuck in a rut.

The Englishman also signed Jordan Rossiter, a young midfielder who had made a name for himself at Anfield a couple of years prior.

Jordan Rossiter’s record at Liverpool

The Englishman played 35 times for the U21, U18 and Youth League teams as he was beginning to show plenty of promise on Merseyside.

He was given his debut by Brendan Rodgers in a League Cup clash against Middlesbrough in September 2014, going on to make an immediate impression for the Reds, scoring the only goal for the club during the game, adding yet more hype to his talents.

While that was his only appearance for the senior side that season, he did go on to feature four times the following season, yet as the end of the 2015/16 campaign was drawing to a close, it was evident Jürgen Klopp didn’t see much of a future for the midfielder in his team.

He was heavily praised, with former Anfield centre-forward Robbie Fowler hailing Rossiter as “potentially a young Stevie G” way back in 2013, yet he failed to really make the grade at Anfield.

Jordan Rossiter

Liverpool’s loss was looking like it could be Rangers’ gain, as the club announced in May 2016 that Warburton had snapped him up on a pre-contract agreement, having to pay just £250k in the process.

Jordan Rossiter’s Rangers stats

After making six appearances for his new club during the opening weeks of the season, he suffered a serious calf injury which ended up ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.

He featured in both legs of the Europa League qualifying defeat to Porgres Niederkorn at the start of the following season, while also playing 90 minutes against Dunfermline in the League Cup and a brief cameo in the top flight, but he suffered yet another calf injury, returning to score in a 5-5 draw during the final game of the season.

With Steven Gerrard taking over in May 2018, it looked like Rossiter might finally become a key part of the squad if he could remain injury free, yet he made just five appearances during the first half of the season.

It was evident his time was up at Rangers, as he spent time on loan at Bury and Fleetwood Town between January 2019 and May 2020, joining the latter permanently in the summer of 2020.

Rossiter’s injuries clearly hampered any progress he was looking to make at the Light Blues and his career is currently fizzling out in League One.

Jordan Rossiter’s current market value

According to Transfermarkt, the former Liverpool starlet is now worth just €150k (£125k) at the time of writing.

The good news for the player is that he has finally gotten over his serious injury issues, being able to play on a regular basis in the third tier now.

After a spell at Bristol Rovers, Rossiter moved to Shrewsbury Town in the summer, making two appearances this season already for the club.

Jordan Rossiter

It once looked like the player had the world at his feet. Scoring on his Liverpool debut perhaps generated more pressure on him to succeed, and he couldn’t break into the first-team squad under Klopp.

Warburton looked like he was getting a bargain by snapping up the youngster eight years ago, and if he remained fit, there was no doubt about how important he could have been for the club.

Alas, it simply wasn’t to be for Rossiter. Aged only 27, he still has a few years left in the game, but is League One his level? It certainly appears so.

Newcastle United eye move for £325k-p/w "machine" available for £0 in 2025

Newcastle United are eyeing up a move to sign a new attacker for Eddie Howe at the end of the current Premier League season as PIF look to make progress towards their goal of becoming the best side in world football.

Newcastle endure tough summer

Despite high hopes heading into the transfer window, Newcastle fans were left disappointed when the window ultimately slammed shut, having failed to make any major signings. After balancing their books through the sales of highly-rated pair Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson, the Magpies tried to pull off a £70m move for Marc Guehi, only for Crystal Palace to reject their multiple advances.

It meant that Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer was their only defensive addition, with two goalkeepers signed as well as young attacking talent William Osula.

Having kept their powder dry this summer though, there is plenty of scope for future investment, and Howe's side are thought to be keeping tabs on a new forward.

Magpies eye up cheap deal in 2025

Now, it has been reported that Newcastle are keeping an eye on the situation of Leroy Sané at Bayern Munich as they look for a potential cheap deal. Sané is down to the final 12 months of his £325,000 a week deal in Bavaria, and is yet to pen fresh terms with the German giants, for whom he has featured 175 times.

He is yet to play for them this season though, having undergone groin surgery over the summer and only returning to training just before the international break. There are longer term concerns over his position at the Allianz Arena too, with Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Mathys Tel and summer addition Michael Olise all fighting it out for the two wide spots for Vincent Kompany's side.

Now, GiveMeSport claim that Newcastle are one of the sides keeping a close eye on his situation, and are ready to offer the German a route back to the Premier League "within the next 12 months", either on a cut-price January deal or as a free transfer in the summer.

It is added that for Sané to remain at Bayern, "he will have to take a pay cut" on his current salary, while there are also "plans" in place "to bring in further reinforcements" in the wide areas after missing out on Desire Doué over the summer.

A move to Tyneside would certainly offer Sané regular first team football, with Newcastle still in the market for a right winger to mirror the performances of Anthony Gordon on the opposite flank. Still just 28-years-old, Sané is still one of the top wingers in world football, and was hailed by both England captain Harry Kane and former Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel across the past 12 months.

"I love playing with Leroy. We have a very good connection – on and off the pitch. He's a fantastic player and a fantastic guy," Kane told Sport1 after a win over Heidenheim in 2023.

Meanwhile, in the same month Thomas Tuchel explained: “Physically he’s a machine. He can implement our instructions like almost nobody else. As well as his talent, his physical condition is top-class."

For now, it remains a case of waiting to see how contract talks unfold, but were he to become available then Newcastle would be ready to make a statement signing, and bring in the first already world-class signing of Howe's reign.

Man United In Talks For ‘Ice-Cold’ £77m Rashford Partner

Manchester United are in the market to find their next superstar to take on the number nine role at Old Trafford and now a new update has emerged on a potential transfer target who could be perfect for the role.

Will Randal Kolo Muani sign for Man United?

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are continuing talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

As per the report, Erik ten Hag is keen to have a new striker in place before his squad returns for pre-season training and the Red Devils are continuing to hold discussions for their main centre-forward targets with Kolo Muani named alongside Rasmus Hojlund.

Is Kolo Muani a good prospect for Man United?

There is no doubt that the signing of a striker will be the top priority for Ten Hag in his pursuit to rebuild the squad and lead the club back to dominance in both domestic football and on the European stage.

The Red Devils failed to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese superstar made a shock departure just a few months into last season and instead secured a six-month loan for Wout Weghorst which spectacularly failed with the Dutchman only finding the back of the net twice during his short spell.

As a result, the signing of Kolo Muani would be a major coup for Ten Hag if he can secure a deal for the talented titan this summer and could spark a dangerous goal-threatening partnership between the Frankfurt ace and Marcus Rashford next season.

Over 46 appearances last term, the 24-year-old France international scored 23 goals and delivered 17 assists in all competitions, with a goal contribution every 91 minutes, an output that would be incredibly valuable to Ten Hag.

kolo-muani-eintracht-frankfurt-premier-league-west-ham-transfers

In fact, no Man United player was able to match Kolo Muani's impressive output in front of goal with Rashford the only player coming close to his numbers with 39 goal contributions in all competitions last season.

Therefore, combining the England international's goal threat with Kolo Muani's could set the team's attack up as a devastating force for years to come.

The talented 6 foot 1 goal machine – who has a reported €90m (£77m) price tag – has been the recipient of high praise for his standout performances in the Bundesliga, with former Bayern Munich ace and Sky Sport pundit Lothar Matthäus claiming:

"Kolo Muani is a major asset for the Bundesliga. He has remarkable technical ability, he's ice-cold in front of goal and he really throws himself into challenges.

"The most impressive thing is that he's performing in every game. I can't remember a match where he's played badly. That's the mark of a future superstar."

With that being said, it would be a no-brainer for Ten Hag to snap up the services of Kolo Muani this summer.

Indeed, combining his strengths with the prowess of Rashford next season could prove to make Man United unstoppable against their opponents in the Premier League and on the biggest stage of all; the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur Targeting "Outstanding" 25 y/o Star

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is now targeting Celtic defender and former Lilywhite Cameron Carter-Vickers, according to a recent report.

Who are Tottenham linked with?

Tottenham's search for a new centre-back is well underway, with a number of potential options having been identified, including Fulham's Tosin Adarabioyo, who has "decided" to leave Craven Cottage this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs are on the verge of completing a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba, with a £25m offer on the table, and the hope is their activity in the transfer market will convince talisman Harry Kane to remain at the club long-tern.

Clement Lenglet spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan in north London, and the Lilywhites are keen to secure the France international on a permanent deal, having recently tabled an offer of €5m (£4.3m) to Barcelona.

With Postecoglou looking to make his mark at N17, Tottenham have also identified Carter-Vickers as a potential target, as reported in the print edition of the Sunday People (via The Scottish Sun).

The 25-year-old centre-back is part of a "posse" of Celtic players that Postecoglou wants to bring with him to north London, with the manager also keen on reunions with Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate.

The Scottish Sun claim Celtic could be made to brace for three bids, with Furuhashi potentially being available in a deal worth between £25m – £30m, although there will be competition for his signature from Burnley.

Will Tottenham sign Cameron Carter-Vickers?

On the face of it, a move for the defender would be a little strange, given that he failed to break into the first team during his previous stint with Spurs, making just five first-team appearances before being sold to Celtic last summer.

That said, the USA international has improved considerably since being given a consistent run in the Celtic starting XI, and transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey lauded him as "outstanding" for his performance against Iran at the World Cup.

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The Southend-born defender made 29 appearances for the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership last term, averaging 1.1 interceptions per game, the second-highest figure in the squad, as well as a 91.6% pass-success rate.

However, even though the centre-back has looked very solid in the Scottish Premiership, it is a far weaker division than the Premier League, and we feel Postecoglou would be better off targeting other players who have more experience at the top level, despite the obvious connection to Carter-Vickers.

Fans To Decide If 63 y/o Stays On As Nigeria Manager

The head of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has claimed that fans will have a say in whether or not current Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro will stay in charge.

Why will fans have a say in the next Nigeria manager?

The former Porto and Sporting Lisbon manager took over back in May 2022, and it was claimed then that he would have a potentially hard time winning over supporters.

Indeed, BBC Sports writer Oluwashina Okeleji noted: "Peseiro will need to surpass his predecessor's achievement to win over demanding fans in Nigeria."

This was because the country's last foreign boss, Gernot Rohr, departed as the Super Eagles' longest-serving manager after taking charge in 2016 and leading Nigeria to the 2018 World Cup and a third-place finish at the 2019 Nations Cup.

Well, Peseiro has managed to secure qualification for next year's Africa Cup of Nations but they didn't manage to make it to the 2022 World Cup. What's more, with four wins and fives losses since, he has been criticised by local media and fans for what some "poor team selections and colourless performances".

That is according to Okeleji again, who once more is reporting for BBC Sport. This new article then quotes the NFF head who explains why fans will have a say in the coach's future.

Speaking interview on the Gbamm! LovingFootball radio show, Gusau explained: "We have the plan to push the votes to Nigerians to hear their views and thoughts.

"We've tried the foreign coaches and also the local coaches, and it seems they were having some kind of problems.

"Maybe we didn't get it right in the area of getting the right person.

"We are surely going to push it to the public, whether we should continue with Peseiro or he should go."

What happened with Jose Peseiro's Nigeria wages?

The report claims that his contract with the NFF expires on 30 June, so this situation should be resolved pretty soon.

However, it remains unclear just how desperate Peseiro will be to stay in the job. After all, back in November – six months after being appointed – it was reported that he had yet to receive a single pay cheque from his employers. Even so, the 63-year-old didn't make an official complaint to the NFF at the time.

Once more, as per BBC Sport, Gusau claimed his

organisation will only pick the best man for the job and nationality will not be a factor.

He added: "Whether we are going to consider an indigenous coach, we are also going to push that to Nigerians on the phone.

"The public will tell us if they think going for a Nigerian will be best for Nigeria at the moment or we appoint another foreign coach.

"We will get their views, look at it and then we will do what we have to do as a board and come out with a decision."

Arsenal: Gunners "Advancing" To Sign "Shining Star"

Arsenal supporters have been told to get “very excited” as they reportedly advance on a move to sign Southampton star Romeo Lavia this summer.

Who will Arsenal sign this summer?

The Gunners are aiming to seriously back manager Mikel Arteta in the transfer market this summer, so much so that they have already had two bids rejected for West Ham star Declan Rice.

One of those offers was a club record, and despite their approaches being snubbed, it is believed they’re preparing a third attempt to land the England international.

Meanwhile, it is reliably believed that Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is about to make the switch to Arsenal, with the north Londoners apparently sealing a £60 million deal (plus £5m in add-ons) for the forward.

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is also being targeted by Arteta’s side amid reports of an offer for the 22-year-old Netherlands ace, but he isn’t the only starlet who could join Arsenal.

Southampton central midfielder Romeo Lavia.

According to reports in the last few days, Arsenal are advancing in talks to sign Lavia from Southampton, with some sources even claiming that personal terms are almost agreed.

Amid these claims, former Southampton FC and Bleacher Report journalist Sam Tighe has told supporters to get “very excited” about Lavia’s possible signing. Tighe claims the 19-year-old has been a “shining star” on the south coast, having watched him throughout the entirety of last season.

Taking to Twitter, he said:

What’s been said about Romeo Lavia?

The impressive teenager has once been likened to former Man City captain and mainstay Fernandinho, with Pep Guardiola holding him in very high esteem.

“I am really impressed with what Romeo has done and is doing,” said Guardiola to City’s official website.

“We had, and we have, an incredible opinion about him. We thought to keep him, but maybe he would not (get) enough minutes like he has in Southampton.

“(It’s a) good experience to go to the Premier League and play at this early age. So important.”

According to WhoScored, Lavia also averaged Southampton’s second-highest rate of tackles per 90 in the top flight last season, eclipsed only by Mohammed Salisu, whilst also amassing a higher pass accuracy than any other Saints player (86.4%).

Ben Foster Tries To Sign 36 y/o Ex-Man Utd Star For Wrexham

Ben Foster has attempted to recruit former Manchester United star Nani for Wrexham with the winger potentially open to a move.

What happened between Ben Foster and Nani?

The club goalkeeper emerged as a key figure for the Red Dragons over the course of their promotion-winning season, after joining the club midway through the campaign.

Indeed, Foster saved a late penalty against Notts County to help seal a win in what turned out to be one of the club's most important matches under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Unsurprisingly, the 40-year-old has since been rewarded with a new one-year contract and it looks as though he's already working hard to improve the team for the following campaign.

Indeed, over the past weekend he was playing for England in the charity football match Soccer Aid. Also taking part at Old Trafford, was former Red Devil Nani.

The Portuguese winger is currently without a club after leaving A-League side Melbourne Victory at the end of the season, and Foster was happy to take advantage of that.

Indeed, while talking on his YouTube channel – Ben Foster – The Cycling GK – the shot-stopper could be heard saying: “Nani hasn’t got a club everybody, I think he should come to Wrexham…

"Do you want to come to Wrexham?"

To which, Nani then replied: “You never know…"

Foster then laughed and said: "Liar!"

How many times did Nani play for Man United?

Of course, it was only a joke and not an official proposition but seeing as Nani is potentially looking for a team and Wrexham have the sort of reputation to bring in some big names of the past, perhaps this could be something to keep an eye out for – after all, it's not as if the 36-year-old dismissed the idea out of hand.

The former Man United star netted 41 goals and provided 71 assists in a 230-game spell at Old Trafford between 2007 to 2015. This means his path would have crossed with Foster – who was at the club from 2005-2010 – but played just 23 times.

Foster has shown a great attitude to playing for the club, admitting that he asked for "peanuts" in his new deal just to remain part of the story.

Indeed, he said: “To be honest, I don’t really need much anyway so the negotiations honestly took about five minutes. It was the easiest conversation in the world.

“With regards to wages and kind of stuff. It’s a short-term deal, a six-week deal. Wages wise it’s literally peanuts. I said I don’t want much.

And if Nani is just keen to find a club where he'll get plenty of media attention at this late stage in his career, perhaps he'll be the next big name to arrive at Wrexham.
